Publication in English:
Managing Partners of Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch in Surinam, drs. Marije van Zomeren & Cor Denneman Heilscher, joined by their surinam associate and strategic partner mr. Marcel Persad BBA witnessed Obama`s inauguration in the big -very crowded- `Congreshal`, the socalled `Glazen Huis` in Paramaribo, located at the `Onafhankelijkheidsplein" in front of the Presidential Palace of Dr. Ronald Venetiaan, Marije and Cor have met before in April, 2008. This CNN-live broadcast has been presented on five big screens.

Why are this occasion and location so special for the surinam people ?
There are several reasons to be mentioned; examples given:

  • the majority of the surinam people has african roots as well
  • the Surinams warmly welcome Obama as the very first black (44th) USA-President
  • since 1863 there is no slavery in Surinam anymore (`Onafhankelijkheidsplein`)
  • the `Glazen Huis` stands for transparancy within the New Surinam as well
  • Obama -as a black and free chosen president- committed himself
  • he committed himself to liberty, equality and fraternity
  • the surinam people already choose for harmony;
  • they stand for harmony between races, etnic backgrounds and religions, so:
  • the surinam people can understand Obama based on `eenheid in verscheidenheid`
  • Surinam even understands Obama better than most other countries in the world
  • Capitol Hill has been built by black slaves so many years ago
  • Obama challenged people to work hard to overcome the existing crisis
  • he motivated people to increase their self esteem and self reliance (New Surinam!)
Cor never never has been and will never be in politics, he promised himself in the very past. But this inauguration was in particular impressive because, surrounded by so many enthousiastic Surinams of so many ages, races, etnic backgrounds and religions, we felt myself witness of the turning point to a new era...in a very stimulating and spiritual environment.

Sail to "Fotografie" to see some pictures, Marije and Cor have made today.

Marije and Cor are working very hard, based on the 7 P`s people, planet, profit, principles, passion, pleasure & priority on Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch to realise our mutual dreams like we did before in other countries in the world. We both had and have a dream...even more dreams...

Lets hope that the dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Houssein Obama will be realised as well...
